4. SpiceJet Orders 42 Boeing 737 Max 8s
SpiceJet has ordered 42 Boeing 737 MAX 8s. The order is valued at $4.4 billion at list prices. With this announcement, SpiceJet has ordered 90 airplanes directly from Boeing, which includes the 737-800, 737-900ER and now the 737 MAX. To date, SpiceJet has taken delivery of 31 of the airplanes.
5. Qantas to Codeshare with Bangkok Airways
Qantas has signed a codeshare agreement with Bangkok Airways which will improve travel options for Qantas customers travelling to Thailand. From 30 March 2014, Qantas customers will be able to book on Bangkok Airways services from Bangkok and Singapore to six new destinations in Thailand, including Koh Samui, Chiang Mai and Phuket.
6. Skymark Airlines Takes Delivery of First Two Airbus A330-300s
Japan’s third largest airline, Skymark Airlines, has taken delivery of the first two Airbus A330-300s out of a total of ten on lease. Skymark Airlines’ A330s, configured with 271 seats, will start scheduled flights in April 2014 from Tokyo Haneda to Fukuoka. Skymark Airlines has also announced plans for A330-300 services from Tokyo Haneda to Sapporo and Naha at a later date.

Airbus is grouping its activities in India through the creation of a fully owned subsidiary called Airbus India to manage the company’s significant Indian footprint spread across several sites. The new Airbus India organisation will have customer facing centres in Delhi and Mumbai.
