7. Carsten Spohr Becomes IATA Board Chairman
Carsten Spohr, Lufthansa Group's CEO, has become Chairman of IATA's Board of Governors for a one-year term. Spohr is the 78th chair and has served on the board since May 2014. He succeeds Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker, who will continue to serve on the board.
8. Boeing Warns 737 Operators of Slat Track Problem
Boeing has contacted 737 operators advising them to inspect the slat track assemblies on certain airplanes. One batch of slat tracks with specific lot numbers produced by a supplier was found to have a potential nonconformance. If operators find the parts in question, they are to replace them with new ones before returning the airplane to service.
