IATAs global passenger traffic results for March 2014 show a moderation of the pace of growth in demand. Total revenue passenger kilometers (RPKs) increased 3.1% compared to March 2013. Japan Airlines is now using 480 new lightweight cargo containers on its international routes. The new cargo container weighs 58 kg, which is 41 kg less than the previous aluminum container the airline was using. The new container is made of synthetic resin in a honeycomb structure that gives it more durability than the aluminum one.
