177. Falcon Aviation to Expand Helicopter Fleet with Three More AW169s
Falcon Aviation of Abu Dhabi is to expand its AgustaWestland AW169 helicopter fleet with the addition of a further three aircraft. The light-intermediate twin helicopters will have multi-mission capability with entry into service in first quarter of 2018. The aircraft will be acquired through operating lease, and represent the first helicopter lease transaction for Falcon.

The Sikorsky-Boeing SB1 DEFIANT helicopter completed its first flight on Thursday at Sikorskys West Palm Beach, Fla., site. The aircraft, developed by Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin Company, and Boeing, will help inform the next generation of military helicopters as part of the U.S. Armys Future Vertical Lift program.

Airbus Helicopters has secured an additional order of one H225 helicopter from the Japan Coast Guard (JCG), bringing JCGs H225 fleet to ten units. JCG currently operates three AS332s and five H225s, both from the Super Puma family. With this new order, the customers Super Puma fleet will grow to 13 units by March 2021, becoming the largest Super Puma operator in Japan.
182. Airbus H160 Completes Cold-Weather Certification Programme
Airbus Helicopters has successfully completed its certification programme of cold-weather testing of its latest H160 helicopter in northern Finland. Airbus deployed the first serial aircraft to Rovaniemi in Lapland in February where the test team benefited from a period of exceptionally low temperatures down to -37C (-35F).
