13. US Airline Testing GKN Aerospace’s Hydrophobic Window Coating
An undisclosed major US airline is assessing GKN Aerospace’s hydrophobic coating for cockpit windows on its aircraft. At the Farnborough air show in July, GKN Aerospace announced the development of this new technology and the fact that Airbus was flight-trialling the coating on its flight–test aircraft. Testing by a major airline is the next step in the assessment process.
14. GKN Aerospace Signs 4-Year PBL Contract with FMV to Support Gripen’s RM12 Engine
GKN Aerospace has entered into a 4-year Performance Based Logistics (PBL) contract with FMV (Swedish Defence Material Administration) for the provision of comprehensive support for the GKN Aerospace RM12 engine, which powers the JAS 39 Gripen C/D fighter. This contract follows on from an initial 5-year RM12 PBL agreement and is expected to be worth approximately US$250 million.
