Marking yet another major benchmark in its 53-year history Solomon Airlines has been awarded with its second IATA Operational Safety Audit Certification (IOSA). IOSA is an international flight safety standard and a mandatory requirement of International Air Transport Association (IATA) membership.
10. Solomon Airlines, Air Niugini and Air Vanuatu to Codeshare
Solomon Airlines has validated a tripartite codeshare agreement with fellow Melanesian carriers Air Niugini and Air Vanuatu. Initially announced in principle last February, the watershed agreement confirming the codeshare was officially signed by the heads of all three carriers at the bi-annual Association of South Pacific Airlines (ASPA) AGM taking place in Brisbane.
11. Solomon Airlines’ Dash 8 Aircraft Resumes Flights
After a three-month absence, Solomon Airlines’ Dash 8 aircraft (H4-SOL) has resumed full operation on the national carrier’s domestic services. The aircraft, affectionately known as ‘Megapode’, had been undergoing its heavy C-Check maintenance program under contract with Hawker Pacific based in Cairns, Queensland.

Solomon Airlines has confirmed that it will suspend flights between Sydney and Honiara from 22 February to 25 April 2016 while the carrier’s flagship Airbus A320 undergoes maintenance in Singapore. 13. Fiji Airways and Solomon Airlines to Codeshare
Fiji Airways and Solomon Airlines have signed a codeshare agreement for flights between Nadi and Honiara. The codeshare, which comes into effect on 30 September 2017 will see both airlines place their respective ‘FJ’ and ‘IE’ codes on each other’s flights between Nadi and Honiara.

Solomon Airlines has been engaged by the Solomon Islands Government and the Kiribati National Olympic Committee to ferry athletes of both countries to Port Moresby to compete in the 2015 Pacific Games taking place from 4-18 July 2015.

Solomon Airlines, Air Niugini and Air Vanuatu will commence a long awaited codeshare service linking all three destinations from 1 July 2016. The new service will operate from Port Moresby to Honiara on Fridays, Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
16. Solomon Airlines to Launch Honiara - Nadi Flights
Solomon Airlines has unveiled plans to launch direct Honiara - Nadi flights on 4 November 2015, subject to government approval. The national carrier will operate the route with Airbus A320 aircraft. Flight IE 708 operating Wednesdays, will depart Honiara at 15:15 arriving Nadi at 20:15. Flight IE 709 operating Thursdays, will depart Nadi at 11:00 arriving Honiara at 12:00.
