Star Alliance, the airline network for Earth, has introduced an airpass for North America, Mexico and the Caribbean as a follow-up to its highly successful European airpass. At a very affordable price customers can buy the new product in conjunction with their intercontinental flight on a Star Alliance airline for travel anywhere within the region from three up to ten destinations, including Hawaii and Alaska.

The average fare per coupon can be as low as 130 US dollars, travel can last up to two months and reservations be made at any time except for the first coupon. Travel is in economy class. All Star Alliance member airlines can issue the airpass which is valid for travel on United Airlines, United Express, Air Canada , Air Canada Jazz, Air Canada Zip and Mexicana Airlines.

“Our airpass for North America, Mexico and the Caribbean is no doubt going to attract many international customers,” said Rainer Dittrich, Director, Revenue Management of Star Alliance. “Coupons are priced according to the total number of flights included in the airpass, thus giving customers great value for money. They will also be credited mileage in their Star Alliance member airline frequent flyer program on all flights taken with the new airpass.”

Star Alliance was established in May 1997 as the first truly global airline alliance to provide customers the benefits of global reach and a smooth travel experience. The member airlines are Air Canada , Air New Zealand, All Nippon Airways – ANA, Austrian Airlines, bmi, Lauda Air, Lufthansa German Airlines, Mexicana, SAS Scandinavian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways International, Tyrolean Airways, United Airlines and VARIG Brazilian Airlines.

Asiana Airlines of South Korea, LOT Polish Airlines and Spain ’s Spanair are scheduled to join Star Alliance in 2003. The future member carriers will further enhance the Star Alliance network, which currently serves 729 airports in 124 countries with almost 11,000 daily flights.
