Stunning Suites at JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa

JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa is the first JW Marriott Resort in Asia and comprises 265 rooms, including 13 suites. It is located on Mai Khao Beach, just 15 minutes north of Phuket International Airport. It is set in 11 hectares of exquisite tropical gardens, with 17 kms of natural, undeveloped beachfront, adjacent to the Sirinath Marine National Park and protected sea turtle nesting area.

Deluxe Sala Rooms

Two hundred and fifty two rooms are made up of Deluxe Sala Garden View and Deluxe Sala Sea View categories while one third of the rooms are in the Deluxe Sala Terrace category. All rooms are elegantly furnished and very spacious, with a minimum of 47 square meters (508 square feet) of luxurious living space.

Each room has a balcony, while the Deluxe Sala Terrace rooms have an additional 16 square meters (173 square feet) of private landscaped terrace, complete with two inviting chaise lounges.

Additionally, all rooms have an indoor 'sala' (a traditional Thai-style raised area) with twin massage mats and triangular cushions - ideal for reading or relaxing. It is here also that futon beds are made up for families, rather than clutter up the room with rollaway beds. Polished wooden floors and rich silk fabrics from Jim Thompson further enhance the Thai ambiance.

Well appointed bathrooms feature an oversize soaking tub and separate shower. Attractive wooden louvered sliding partitions above the bath can be open to see the view outdoors, or closed for privacy if preferred.

And then there's the suites ……

One Bedroom Suites

Twelve exceedingly spacious one bedroom suites with equally large balconies all directly face the Andaman Sea

Each suite measures 98 square meters (1,058 square feet), with an additional balcony measuring a minimum of 71 square meters (767 square feet).

Eight suites have the option of an additional adjacent deluxe room, making a two bedroom suite.

An entry hallway with a guest bathroom opens into an extremely spacious bedroom and living area, with a large writing desk, comfortable sofa, minibar and tea and coffee making facilities. An attractive wooden amoir houses a Sony 29 inch flat screen TV, DVD player and stereo.

Furnishings are in pale greens and gold with fabrics by Jim Thompson. Floor to ceiling glass windows and doors on three sides of the suites allow a lot of natural light during the day which is softly filtered by sheer day curtains for a cooling effect. Sliding glass doors open out onto the large balcony.

The balcony runs the full length of the suite where two luxuriously upholstered chaise lounges await. A covered 'sala' is the perfect dining setting and has exquisite views of the Andaman Sea - perfect for leisurely breakfasts and romantic dinners while the waves gently lap the shore just meters away. This area in particular (together with the bathrooms) has guests longing to return, or design the exact area for their own homes (but you can't always get the weather to match!).

Each suite has an expansive 'his and hers' dressing area and a personal safe. Exceedingly roomy bathrooms are a mixture of cream terrazzo flecked with mother of pearl, and black granite. Large windows let in natural light which is also reflected off two big mirrors. A (very) oversized terrazzo deep soak bath tub is the focal point of the bathroom with 'his and hers' grooming areas on either side of the bathtub, plus a separate shower.

The Royal Suite

The Royal Suite is located in a private area just meters from the beach and has fabulous views over the Andaman Sea.

This incredible suite measures 340 square meters (3,672 square feet) and has an additional 305 square meters (3,294 square feet) of outdoor living space, including an 18 meter lap pool and a heated outdoor whirlpool. Exotic flaming urns on the pools edge are lit at night and further add to the romantic ambiance.

In traditional Thai style, each room is housed in its own building; The Royal Suite comprises three. The main building is the living and dining area and is perfect for entertaining with a large table for up to eight, or even a small meeting hosted by the person staying in the Suite. A small kitchenette and a guest bathroom are also found in this area. Entertainment systems comprising a 29 inch Sony Flat Screen TV, DVD player and Stereo are contained in a large wooden amoir, as well as a minibar for instant snacks and beverages.

Needless to say the Royal Suite comes with its own butler service. Formal or family entertaining is easily catered from the resort, with poolside barbecue's a hot favorite in this tropical climate. The large outdoor deck area has 12 chaise lounges.

Floor to ceiling glass doors afford uninterrupted views overlooking the private pool, through to the gardens and the ocean. Polished wooden floors are highlighted with rich Jim Thompson silk fabrics and furnishings in this modern setting.

Two extremely spacious bedrooms sit on either side of the living and dining room. Each bedroom has three separate areas. Firstly, the sleeping area at the front which also has floor to ceiling glass doors affording those beautiful views towards the ocean. Each bedroom has a 29 inch flat screen Sony TV, DVD player and stereo, a small lounge setting, minibar and a writing desk. In the mid-section of each bedroom is the entry hallway and spacious 'his and hers' closet space with a personal safe.

The bathrooms are particularly stunning, each with a large semi-circular cream terrazzo deep-soak tub flecked with mother of pearl and black granite 'his and hers' grooming areas, an indoor shower and twin outdoor showers. The expansive use of glass enables a lot of natural light.

Total privacy is a given in this incredible suite which is surrounded by a majestic wall on three sides. Truly a world of its own in this tropical paradise.
