JAL CUTS "WELCOME TO JAPAN FARE" BY 50% FOR WORLD CUP

Japan Airlines is cutting its special discount "Welcome to Japan Fare" for overseas visitors by 50% during the period of the World Cup soccer tournament.

First introduced in 1997, the JAL "Welcome to Japan Fare" offers domestic flights at the fixed rate of 12,600 yen per sector, including tax. From May 25 until July 5, domestic flight sectors will be priced at 6,300 yen, including tax. The World Cup tournament starts on May 31 and ends on June 30.

"Welcome to Japan" fares can be used to all cities in Japan served by JAL and its subsidiaries, JAL Express (JEX) and Japan Transocean Air (JTA).

To take advantage of JAL's "Welcome to Japan Fare", travelers have to be resident overseas and must purchase the "Welcome to Japan Fare" ticket in conjunction with an international ticket to Japan, prior to departure for Japan. The fare is available overseas only and is not on sale in Japan.

Travelers can use JAL or any other international airline serving Japan for the international flights.
