Safir International launches first property in UAE

Travel News Asia 4 October 2002

On the run-up to its ‘soft’ opening, the chairman and board members from Safir International Hotel Management visited Dubai to tour their newest property - the 154-room Safir Deira Hotel.

The hotel is the first UAE property for the Kuwait-based group, which operates 32 hotels in seven countries in North Africa and the Middle East.

Faisal M Al Hajji, chairman of Safir International, commented: “As our first hotel in Dubai, we see tremendous potential for business given the rapid development of the infrastructure here, and we are delighted to become part of the emirate’s fast-track expansion.”

Located in Muraqqabat Road in Deira, the five-star standard property already has high occupancies for November and December, and general manager Maagid El Saarany said it had been designed to appeal to both business travellers and tourists.

“An affiliation with a beach property means we can offer a combined city/beach package for visitors, at highly-competitive rates, while our Club Select business floor with butler service is ideal for corporate guests,” he said.

Interior design at the seven-storey hotel was the work of Saporiti Italia, and combines high-quality finishes with rich fabrics and chic custom-designed furnishings and accessories.

“This attention to detail runs throughout the hotel, where guests will receive personalised attention and five-star service standards at every level, from the rooftop pool deck to the unique TRIO of restaurants,” explained El Saarany.

Facilities at the Safir Deira Hotel include 154 rooms and 14 suites; two meeting and banqueting rooms with capacity for up to 200; business centre; Club Select business floor; pool, Jacuzzi, gym and sauna; the Adam’s Kids Club; and five restaurant and lounge outlets.

These range from the signature Moroccan Al Salamlak and the inter-active Hot Waves offering fusion Mediterranean and Far East cuisine, to the Portofino bistro; a pool deck snack bar and al fresco terrace café.
