CYPRUS AIRWAYS' AIRBUS FLEET GROWS WITH DELIVERY OF ITS FIRST A319

Cyprus Airways took delivery today of its first A319 in Hamburg, Germany. Together with a second A319 on order, this aircraft will join the Larnaca-based carrier's in-service fleet of six A320s. An all-Airbus operator for over ten years, Cyprus Airways will also integrate the long-range widebody twin A330-200 by the end of this year. All members of Airbus' fly-by-wire family, these aircraft types all share the highest level of commonality.

Seating 126 passengers in a comfortable two-class configuration, Cyprus Airways' A319 will be operated on the airline's growing network in Europe and the Middle East, alongside the A320. The A319 is powered by V2500-A5 engines from International Aero Engines, which also power the airline's A320 fleet.

Designed to optimize passenger comfort and maximize cost savings, the A318, A319, A320 and A321 form the world's most profitable and best-selling single aisle-aircraft family. All derived from the same fuselage, the A320 Family provides operators with the high degree of commonality and economy for aircraft in the 107-185 seat category. Some 1,700 A320 Family aircraft are currently in service with almost 100 operators worldwide.

A leading aircraft manufacturer with the world's most modern and extensive airliner family on the market, Airbus is a global company with design and manufacturing facilities in France, Germany, the UK, and Spain, as well as subsidiaries in the U.S., China and Japan. Headquartered in Toulouse, France, Airbus is an EADS joint Company with BAE SYSTEMS.
