JAL AND THAI AIRWAYS INTERNATIONAL EXPAND CODE SHARE NETWORK TO DOMESTIC ROUTES

29 May 2002

Japan Airlines and Thai Airways International are expanding their code share agreement to include domestic flights in Japan and Thailand with effect from June 3. The expanded network resulting from the domestic code sharing will help improve passenger convenience as demand for traffic from Japan through Bangkok to domestic points in Thailand grows.

Current JAL/Thai Airways International code shares flights on routes from Nagoya, Kansai and Fukuoka to Bangkok will continue and the two carriers will also maintain their independent operations on routes to Bangkok from Tokyo, Kansai and Nagoya.

But JAL will now code share with Thai Airways International on four domestic routes daily from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Hat Yai and Phuket.

JAL sales cooperation flights currently operated with Thai Airways International to Phuket and Bangkok-Samui with Bangkok Airways will continue.

Thai Airways International will code share with JAL on domestic routes in Japan from their gateway airports including (1) Fukuoka to and from Sapporo, Okinawa and Nagoya (2) Nagoya to and from Fukuoka, Sapporo and Okinawa (3) Kansai to and from Sapporo, Okinawa and Fukuoka.
