SIX CONTINENTS HOTELS PAYS TRIBUTE TO STAFF AFTER AWARDS SUCCESS

Six Continents Hotels has paid tribute to staff across the region for their contribution to the company’s success at the 2002 Depa Middle East Hotel Awards.

“While a small number of people took the limelight at the Awards gala dinner, it is the thousands of staff members who make our hotels and resorts stand out,” said Denis Johnson, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Middle East and Africa.

“Our expectations and demands are constantly rising, and the staff respond superbly to ensure the highest level of service is delivered to our guests.”

Antoine Berberi, General Manager of the Hotel-Inter-Continental Al Ain, will call all his staff together to thank them for their efforts which led to the hotel’s stylish Italian restaurant and bar, Luce, collecting the award for Hotel Restaurant Innovation of the Year.

“It’s not just the design of the restaurant and the quality of food that wins an award like this - the staff help to build an atmosphere which adds to the whole dining experience,” said Berberi, who collected the prize during the Awards ceremony at the Semiramis Inter-Continental Cairo last Thursday night.

Denis Johnson, accompanied by area sales and marketing directors Magdi Samman and David Atkinson, collected the award for otHot Hotel Advertising Campaign of the Year.

Six Continents Hotels captured the advertising prize for its campaign promoting the “Business Options” programme of valuable benefits enjoyed by business travellers staying at Inter-Continental Hotels and Resorts.

Two other Inter-Continental hotels were highly commended; the Hotel Inter-Continental Doha in the Business Hotel of the Year category, and the Phoenicia Inter-Continental Beirut in the Conference Hotel of the Year section. Johnny Fattaleh, General Manager of the Hotel Inter-Continental Doha, was also highly commended in the Hotelier of the Year category.

Highly commended in the category for New hotel of the Year was the Holiday Inn Bur Dubai, one of 20 Holiday Inn properties currently under management in the Middle East by Six Continents Hotels.
