STAR CRUISES ANNOUNCES NEW ITINERARY FOR SUPERSTAR GEMINI

22 May 2002

Star Cruises has announced the new Northeast China-South Korea itinerary for SuperStar Gemini.

SuperStar Gemini departed from her homeport of Singapore on 19th May 2002 and is expected to arrive at Pyongtaek, South Korea on 29th May 2002 where she will commence Yellow Sea cruises between Northeast China and South Korea calling at Dalian and Qingdao in China on 30th May 2002.

"The earlier-than-anticipated deployment of SuperStar Gemini is timely as it will also coincide with the month-long FIFA World Cup 2002 scheduled from 31st May 2002 to 30th June 2002 thus complementing the World Cup Finals with a world-class cruise ship", said Mr. Chong Chee Tut, Star Cruises' Chief Operating Officer.

"Star Cruises is well poised to expand into the progressively open Chinese market as we believe that SuperStar Gemini will be a fitting pathfinder vessel and precursor to plans which we have in store for both China and the North Asia markets", added Mr Chong.

"As Star Cruises' operations unfold in North China, it marks a significant step in our venture into the Chinese market which not only promises fascinating destinations but also the potential of developing cruising as a holiday option for the increasingly affluent Chinese market," added Mr. Chong.

With the addition of the latest ports-of-call, Star Cruises ships now call at 5 destinations along China's coast ie. Xiamen, Hainan Island and Zhanjiang in the south; Qingdao and Dalian in the north.

ABOUT SUPERSTAR GEMINI

SuperStar Gemini is a 19,089-grt vessel replete with all the modern fitting of a luxurious cruise ship with facilities including well-appointed cabins and suites, restaurants, bars, swimming pool, fitness centre, cabaret and showroom, disco and karaoke, games room, salon and child care centre, amongst others.

For the last two years, SuperStar Gemini has been homeported in Singapore offering Straits of Malacca and Andaman Sea cruises catering to an international clientele from Australia, Singapore, United Kingdom, South Africa and Malaysia to name a few.

ABOUT PYONGTAEK

The port of Pyongtaek is located on the mid-western coast of the Korean peninsula and is only about an hour and a half drive to Seoul, the capital city of South Korea. The port serves as a gateway to Seoul and is known as the hub of the Yellow Sea rim.

ABOUT QINGDAO

Qingdao or 'green island' in Chinese is a true garden city and is one of China's most popular seaside resorts with vistas of the sea, parks, boats and mansions with long stretches of esplanades. Qingdao also has a distinct European character, especially German and is renowned as a producer of beers, wines and spirits – a legacy of the first Germania brewery known as the Tsingtao Brewery. The modern city retains much evidence of its colonial past with many 19th century neo-Gothic style buildings and strolling through the old German area and along the beaches is a favourite past time and for day trips.

ABOUT DALIAN

The coastal city of Dalian has the largest harbour in the north-east of China and today is one of the most prosperous cities in China. Dalian sits on the Liaodong Peninsula which borders the Yellow Sea to the north. Dalian boasts numerous sidewalk cafes, buildings and squares with Russian and Japanese influences and acreage of grass and lawns for visitors.
