SINGAPORE AIRLINES INVITES YOU TO SHOP IN SPLENDOUR

Passengers on Singapore Airlines (SIA) can now shop in splendour with the new Singapore Airlines Splendour Card. SIA and VISA International have teamed up to give SIA's customers on every flight into Singapore more reasons to shop, dine, and be entertained.

This new discount card will entitle the cardholder to privileges at over 300 participating outlets in Singapore. By presenting their SIA Splendour Card before making their purchases, SIA customers can enjoy generous discounts and privileges, such as complimentary beverages or free gifts at selected merchants. Purchases can be made via a VISA credit or debit card, or by cash. The full list of offers and establishments can be found in the SIA Splendour Card brochure.

From 1 May to 31 October 2002, all SIA passengers travelling to Singapore will be entitled to an exclusive SIA Splendour Card free of charge. The Card is recognised by a range of participating retailers along the tourist belt and at key tourist attractions, which are served by the "SIA Hop-On Bus", a complimentary service for all visitors who travel to Singapore on SIA services.

Said Mr Huang Cheng Eng, SIA Executive Vice President (Marketing and the Regions), "We are excited with this latest privilege programme offered to all our passengers coming into Singapore. SIA passengers will be able to enjoy discounts and value-added services from chic boutiques to trendy entertainment spots in Singapore. More shops and F&B outlets will be added in the coming months."

He added: "We are always looking out for new ways to offer great value to our passengers, and the new SIA Splendour Card is just one of our many innovative ideas. We are looking at introducing similar SIA Splendour Card programmes in other cities in the Asia-Pacific region."

NOTE

Plans are underway to introduce such a card for Hong Kong, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, and Brisbane.

Mr Stuart Tomlinson, VISA International's marketing director for South East Asia said the joint initiative between SIA and VISA will help deliver tremendous benefits to their mutual customers.

"Altogether, tourists to the five countries in the Splendour Card programme spent 6 billion US dollars last year," said Mr Tomlinson. "With VISA's share of the total tourism dollar in these countries between 30 and 40 per cent, we are confident the SIA Splendour programme will help boost the retail industry even further while extending the range of benefits which VISA already offers its cardholders: convenience, security and acceptance everywhere."

"In all of SIA's 65 destinations in 37 countries, the single common currency accepted is VISA. Like VISA, the SIA Splendour Card benefits travellers from the moment they touch down," he concluded.
