Crowne Plaza adds second hotel in Jordan

Travel News Asia 21 October 2002

Jordan’s second Crowne Plaza hotel will be introduced later this month, with the rebranding of the Amra Forum Hotel following a multi-million dollar renovation programme.

Enjoying a prime location in the Jordanian capital, the Amra Crowne Plaza Amman becomes the 12th Crowne Plaza property in the Middle East and Africa.

Jordan’s other Crowne Plaza property, the Crowne Plaza Resort Petra, is already a popular leisure and meetings destination at the entrance to the Kingdom’s world famous archaeological site.

“We’re delighted to be making a valuable new addition to our growing chain of outstanding properties in the region,” said David Atkinson, Area Director Marketing, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Middle East and Africa. “The Amra Crowne Plaza Amman has a great deal to offer business and leisure travellers, as well as conference and meeting organsiers, and will compliment the Crowne Plaza Resort Petra.”

To mark its rebranding, the hotel is offering guests a special “Discover Jordan” package. In addition to attractive rates of $75 per night for single or double rooms, guests can choose one of three options – to stay for three nights and get the fourth night free, take a second room at 50% discount, or include breakfast in the price. Starting in Ramadan, the offer is available until February 28, 2003.

Established in 1984 as the Amra Forum, the hotel has undergone a four-year, multi-million dollar investment. Stunning new facades and window replacements make the rooms some of the most peaceful for guests in the city, and the state-of-the-art recreation centre is the largest of any hotel in Amman.

Choices for diners include Zaytouneh, a new Mediterranean themed restaurant located on the pool terrace and approached through a conservatory garden, and the Shehrazad rooftop restaurant, which offers an array of Arabic delicacies. Additional restaurants and a street cafe are due to open at the end of the year.

Occupying the highest point in Amman, the hotel is situated opposite the bustling business, shopping and dining district of Suweifiyeh, and is also conveniently located near the main Desert Highway leading to the major tourist sites of Jordan and the Syrian border.

Enhanced banqueting and conference facilities are complimented by the Crowne Plaza “Meeting Success” programme, a complete meetings package designed to help organisers run their events smoothly and successfully from start to finish.

The hotel’s Crowne Plaza Club is dedicated to the business traveller, featuring superb executive rooms, and a Club Boardroom and lounge looking out across the city.

The growing Crowne Plaza portfolio in the Middle East and Africa also includes the recently opened Crowne Plaza Beirut, as well as hotels in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait, Muscat, Jeddah, Sharm El Sheikh, Casablanca, Harare and Johannesburg.
