Six Continents Hotels Appoints Regional Vice President of Operations in New Zealand

Six Continents Hotels today announced the appointment of Andrew de Csilléry to the role of Regional Vice President of Operations, New Zealand and South Pacific, as of 1 May 2002.

Currently Vice President of Strategy, Asia Pacific and based in Singapore, Andrew will relocate to New Zealand's North Island to also take on the role of General Manager for Hotel Inter-Continental Wellington.

Andrew will be part of the executive management team for Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific with overall responsibility for hotel operations in New Zealand, Fiji, Noumea and Vanuatu in addition to his role as General Manager in Wellington.

"In the current market environment, it is important that we focus on the clear long-term strategic agenda for Six Continents Hotels. Andrew's knowledge of the global corporate agenda and clear understanding of the strategic goals of the Company as well as the region, will be a key asset to our operations in New Zealand and the South Pacific," Six Continents Hotels' Chief Operating Officer for Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, Phil Lee said.

Andrew has held senior strategic roles with the Group since June 1998 in London and Singapore, working directly with the Board and executive management teams on long-term company strategy and key acquisitions.

In his current role, Andrew has been a key player in the development of the strategic direction and plans for the Group in the Asia Pacific region and was closely involved in the acquisitions of Southern Pacific Hotel Corporation in April 2000 and The Regent hotel, Hong Kong in May 2001, which was subsequently re-branded as Hotel Inter-Continental Hong Kong.

"I am looking forward to the strategic focus Andrew will bring to our operations in New Zealand and the South Pacific. His appointment will strengthen our management team in this region and will assist us in achieving the objectives of Six Continents Hotels and our stakeholders," Mr Lee added.
