United to Begin New Daily Nonstop Service to Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo from Washington, D.C.

17 May 2002

United Airlines (NYSE:UAL) today announced that it would begin new daily nonstop service to Buenos Aires, Argentina and Sao Paulo, Brazil from the carrier's east-coast hub Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). The new flights will start on October 29, and will be flown using Boeing 767-300 aircraft configured with three classes of service. The new routes will open for sale beginning May 18.

This move expands United's Latin American service from its Washington, D.C. hub by offering daily nonstop service to Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo in addition to the carrier's daily service to Mexico City. United is the only carrier to serve South America nonstop from Washington Dulles.

"We are very proud to launch new service to these two important Latin American business centers as part of the roster of international destinations served out of our East Coast hub," said Graham Atkinson, United Airlines senior vice president-international. "This new service continues to expand the schedule, connection opportunities and non-stop international destinations customers enjoy out of our hub."

"We also want to thank Rep. Frank R. Wolf (R-Va.) for his role in making this transition a reality," added Atkinson. "Rep.Wolf continues to play an instrumental role in maintaining Dulles International Airport's status as a premier international gateway."

United Flight #847 will depart Washington Dulles daily at 9:45PM and arrive in Buenos Aires at 10:25AM the following day. The return flight, #846, will depart Buenos Aires at 10:05PM and arrive in Washington at 7:05AM the following morning.

United Flight #861 will depart Washington Dulles daily at 9:35PM and arrive in Sao Paulo at 10:30AM the following day. The return flight, #860, will depart Sao Paulo at 11:40PM and arrive in Washington at 7:00AM the following morning.

United will operate both flights with Boeing 767-300 aircraft configured with 10 seats in United First, 38 seats in United Business, and 158 seats in United Economy.
