Mr. Khampi Suwanarat, Chief Operating Officer of Dusit Hotels & Resorts recently announced the appointment of Mr. Malcolm McKenzie-Vass as the new General Manager of
*Santiburi Dusit Resort, Koh Samui.
Malcolm who is a native of Ireland is no stranger to Thailand having worked for a number of years earlier in his career as Director of Marketing & Sales with The Regent Bangkok. He has had extensive experience in Asian & International hospitality, having worked in Korea, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Hongkong, Vietnam, Indonesia, China, New Zealand and Turkey.
Most recently Malcolm was Group General Manager of Killarney Hotels Ltd. a group of luxury hotels in his native country Ireland. Among the previous GM positions held were as General Manager, Chongqing Marriott Hotel, Chongqing, China, General Manager, The Ritz-Carlton Bali, Indonesia and General Manager, Hanoi Daewoo Hotel in Vietnam.
Born in Ireland, he graduated from the University of Stockholm (Economics and Business Administration). A native speaker of English and French, he is well versed in a number of European languages.
He began his career as a Management Trainee in Ireland after which he spent several years with Hilton International in Europe. In earlier years Malcolm distinguished himself in a brilliant career in sales and marketing before finally accepting his first general management role in opening the luxurious Hanoi Daewoo Hotel in 1996.
Among his many hobbies include golf, tennis, horseback riding, fishing, travel, mountain climbing and sailing.
