Singapore's
Fashion Festival - the world's first consumer fashion event opens in
style and splendour on Friday 16 March 2001 at the Temasek Reflections
and Sculpture Plaza at Millenia Walk. Guest-of-Honour is Mrs Goh Chok
Tong, wife of Singapore's Prime Minister.
The curtain-raiser is Kenzo's colourful Spring/Summer collection, while
international jazz singer Laura Fygi and her talented band will grace
the evening's entertainment highlights.
Kenzo's spectacular wardrobe of 70 outfits by 40 models will be paraded
in dramatic fashion to scintillating pyrotechnics and fanfare. The
collection for ladies designed by Kenzo designer Gilles Rosier is a play
of lightness and geometry, in rich but subtle colours using all natural
fibres. For the men's collection, Kenzo designer Roy Krejberg, inspired
by humour, designed the colourful, ethnic and off-beat men's collection.
The evening continues with another fashion show featuring 45 outfits
from the Moschino Jeans Spring/Summer collection. This latest collection
features sexy numbers and pays tribute to Spain with the authentic use
of polka dots and traditional Spanish embroidery. The Moschino show will
open with popular MTV VJs, Donita Rose and Belinda Lee.
Perfect 10 DJs Glen Ong, Jean Danker and Rod Monterio will keep the mood
of the crowd high at the post-fashion show party till midnight.
Kenzo Fashion Explosion is the first of a series of events that is
targeted at the masses throughout the two-week long festival, blending
fashion and music.
"Fashion shows by top international labels are not usually viewed by the
public on this scale. By doing so, we hope to bring high fashion to both
Singaporeans and visitors to Singapore alike in a fun way," said Mr
David Lim, CEO of MS Twilight, the organiser of the Fashion Festival.
Ms Nelly Ngadiman, Managing Director of Kenzo's distributor, Belbon Pte

region and a significant player in the Fashion World."

fashion on home grounds."
Fashion Festival 2001 is held from 16 to 31 March 01. It is a fashion
extravaganza which has its role in reinforcing Singapore's global image
as a city that welcomes the latest and the best from the international
fashion circuit. The Festival hopes to ride on the strategic timing in
March when the season's Spring/Summer collections arrive in the stores.
This provides a co-ordinated platform that will create a fashion frenzy
and, hopefully, will in turn boost retail sales and tourists arrivals.
