Third Business Travel Expo Hong Kong Hailed a Success

Travel News Asia 8 April 2004

The third Business Travel Expo Hong Kong, which was held last week at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, has been hailed as a great success by organisers and exhibitors, attracting a record 58 exhibitors, a sell-out seminar programme and an increase in visitors of around 20% over last year.

“Our registration company is still finalising the official numbers but it looks in the ballpark of the 1,500 visitors we were targeting – or 20% up on last year’s attendance” said Paul Robin, Group Events Director of Centaur Exhibitions, which organised the show.

“The feedback we have received from our exhibitors was that this year was by far the best year for the expo to date, and in particular there were some very important contacts from mainland China this year as well as key buyers from both SME’s and blue chip companies,” said Robin.

“This was our first time to participate in the show, but I would say it was very worthwhile for us and we made some extremely useful contacts,” confirms Juergen Thompson, Commercial Director of first time exhibitor AirPlus International.

Several companies have already reserved booths for next year’s show and the organisers received 15 enquiries from potential new exhibitors interested in participating in next year’s Expo, which will be held at the HKCEC in March 2005.

A notable highlight of the expo was the packed two-day programme of training seminar sessions, demonstrating that “a desire for knowledge was strongly driving attendance to the event” according to Robin. The Expo organisers had to close out pre-registration for the seminars due to overwhelmingly strong demand.
