Brinley Waddell named Director of Business Development for E-Distribution at Optims Asia

Optims S.A., a leading global provider in information technology solutions dedicated to the optimization of management methods and revenue in the Hospitality, Catering and Tourism industries, has appointed Brinley Waddell as Director of Business Development for e-distribution. He will be operating from the Optims office in Bangkok, Thailand.

Brinley Waddell has more than three decades of sales and marketing experience together with extensive expertise in Channel Management for electronic distribution of tourism products.

Brinley has held various sales positions in the airline industry, at TAA, Air New Zealand and Air Niugini just to name but a few.

From the airline industry he crossed industry’s sides and took responsibility for training, business development and sales and marketing topics for hotel IT companies as well as for electronic distribution channel providers and travel agencies.

Brinley is also a highly appreciated industry speaker and he has lectured at “The Sydney Business and Travel Academy” on travel and tourism subjects including GDS.

Expatriate in New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea and Hong Kong, Brinley Waddell gained extensive intercultural competence which makes him sort of an “all-rounder” not only in terms of knowing the IT industry but also in terms of knowing various local requirements. Mr Waddell’s international outlook and knowledge of diverse cultures will be an asset in his new role in which he is responsible for promoting Optims e-commerce products.

Commenting on his career in the tourism industry, Brinley says, “I have been working in many areas of travel and tourism operations that have given me an excellent understanding of the processes. This experience has been invaluable in recent years assisting me greatly with my work roles and understanding customer’s needs”.

Brinley Waddell has served on various committees including Hotel Electronic Distribution Network Association (HEDNA) committee in Sydney. He currently sits on the Bangkok SKAL committee.

Asked about his perspective on Optims, Brinley Waddell commented, “I am pleased to join Optims that has leading products providing hoteliers significant advantage increasing revenue per available room.
