New Spa Industry Study for Australia

Intelligent Spas today released the updated Spa Industry Survey Report for Australia, highlighting interesting movements within the industry as new spas enter the market.

The survey of spa facilities found spa visits grew by 17.5% to approximately 2,350,000 between July 2002 and June 2003, however average visits per spa dropped substantially by 13.8%.

The Spa Industry Survey Australia 2003 report features the following key results:

Spa facilities generated over 200 million Australian dollars in revenue during the 2002/2003 financial year.

The spa industry employed approximately 3,120 people as at 1 July 2003, an increase of 10.8% compared to the previous year.

Day spas made up 45% of spa types.

10% of visitors were international tourists.

Julie Garrow, Director of the independent research company specialising in the spa industry, stated "this was the second time the survey was conducted in Australia and with over 100 respondents, representing approximately one third of the spa population, we were able to gain some very reliable findings, highlighting interesting trends".
