Women to win at the Dubai World Cup 2004

Travel News Asia 5 February 2004

The countdown to the world’s richest horse race, the Dubai World Cup coming up in March, marks the time for frenetic fashion activity, with women preparing to make a splash at the Nad Al Sheba racetrack.

As the finest selection of horses and jockeys from all over the world battle for top honours, ladies’ fashion will be feted off-track in the ‘Fashions on the Field’ contest co-sponsored by Emirates’ Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa, the luxurious holiday oasis, and Saks Fifth Avenue, the upscale fashion retail outlet.

Superb prizes will be on offer to both the winner and runner-up of the ‘Best Dressed Lady’, as well as the winner of the ‘Milliners Award for Best Hat’.

The ‘Best Dressed Lady’ wins three nights in the Royal Suite at Al Maha as well as an exclusively designed hat by Louis Ferraud from Saks Fifth Avenue. The Runner-up can enjoy two nights in the Bedouin Suite and a US$1,000 gift certificate from Saks Fifth Avenue store in Dubai.

The winner of the ‘Milliner’s Award for Best Hat’ walks away with a three night stay in Al Maha’ Bedouin Suite and an exquisite hat designed by Alberta Ferretti, also from Saks Fifth Avenue.

Tony Williams, Emirates’ Vice President - Resorts and Projects said: “It is only fitting that Al Maha co-sponsors ‘Fashions on the Field’. Both represent understated elegance and romance, fun, and simply ‘being the best in the field’.”

All those interested in participating in the ‘Fashions in the Field’ can register for the event on the day, with forms available at all the information booths onsite. Candidates can look forward to the prospect of facing a panel of judges drawn from the list of VIP guests and a representative each from Al Maha and Saks Fifth Avenue.
