Traders Hotel, Dubai opens for business

The Traders Hotel, Dubai the result of a management agreement between Shangri-La International Hotels & Resorts and Oman-based Zubair Corporation opened today. The opening of Traders Hotel, Dubai, a four-star deluxe 250-room property, reflects the debut of the Traders brand in the Middle East region and is the sixth Traders Hotel for Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts worldwide.

Commenting on the key markets for the new hotel, General Manager, Mr Wolf Dieter Flecker said, "Our main market is business travellers and of course the meetings segment. However we also expect to attract a share of the leisure market particularly when Dubai plays host to festivals and events."

After an extended pre-opening phase and simulation exercises, Mr Flecker acknowledged the commitment of the staff of 240 people.

"Over the past months, our team made up of 25 different nationalities, many of whom it is their first time away from their home country, has demonstrated a strong commitment to the hotel and each other. Speaking on behalf of the entire team, I can only say that we are delighted to have finally opened our doors for business."

Located in the bustling business and commercial district of Deira, the Traders Hotel, Dubai epitomizes a contemporary minimalist style utilizing exquisite furnishings and design elements throughout. The hotel, designed by Architectural firm Badri & Bensouda with its interior by Julia Dempster of Interior Motives, features a warm and inviting lobby which forms the heart of the hotel and provides an ideal place to meet business colleagues or just socialize with friends. Located on the lobby level guests will also find the unique multi cuisine dining concept known as "The Junction" and an ultra chic evening meeting place called the "Chameleon Bar" offering nightly live entertainment.

All of the guest rooms feature broadband internet access, interactive TV, IDD telephone with voice mail, electronic in-room locker, private mini-bar, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities.

The Traders Club executive floors offer a range of exclusive privileges including the use of a private lounge, express check-in and check-out services, complimentary breakfast and purser services.

A 24 hour Business Centre, varied meeting facilities and a Ballroom cater to business and social needs.

Recreational facilities feature a gym, sauna/steam and massage rooms, Jacuzzi, indoor swimming pool and a juice bar.

Other services available include complimentary entrance and shuttle transfer to a beach park, same day laundry/valet services, complimentary airport pick-up and cross-signing facilities at Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai providing an extended selection of dining options.

Opening rates start from AED 388 per room per night including breakfast (valid until 31 August 2004).
