JAL to offer Good Sleep Service from 1 November 2004

Travel News Asia 28 September 2004

Japan Airlines is introducing a new service system for business class and first class passengers on some overnight flights from Asian cities to Japan from November 1st. The 'JAL Good Sleep Service' is focused on maximizing sleeping time in response to business traveler customer feedback. The system has been tested on overnight flights from Singapore since September 1st.

The JAL Good Sleep Service consists of a number of measures to create a quieter cabin atmosphere, conducive to sleep. These include:

- Reducing cabin lighting intensity

- Providing passengers who wish to sleep undisturbed with 'Do Not Disturb' cards to be displayed on their seat. Passengers using this service will not be woken until 30 minutes before flight arrival. Passengers who wish to sleep but want to be woken for meals will be given 'Wake Me for Meal' cards. Breakfast is generally served 90 minutes before flight arrival

- Providing light snacks of sandwiches or noodles on demand

- New style breakfast menus including: freshly squeezed juice; Japanese meal choice including healthy rice porridge and Western meals featuring fruit and a continental style breakfast.

- Providing more substantial self-service pre-flight snack services in passenger lounges prior to departure.

The JAL Good Sleep Service will be implemented on some JAL daily overnight flights to Japan as follows:

- From Singapore: JL710 (destination Narita)

- From Kuala Lumpur via Singapore: JL722 (destination Osaka Kansai)

- From Bangkok: JL704 & 718 (both destinations Narita) 738 (Nagoya).
