Pegasus Solutions providing Global Internet Distribution Services for Accor Hotels

Travel News Asia 28 June 2004

Pegasus Solutions has announced the implementation of a three-year Internet hotel reservations technology/distribution agreement with Paris-based Accor, one of the largest groups of hotels worldwide. Accor’s global portfolio of nearly 4,000 hotels in 90 countries will be available for online booking via the thousands of third-party Web sites that connect with Pegasus. Dallas-based Pegasus Solutions is a leading worldwide provider of hotel reservations-related services and technology.

Under the agreement, Accor’s leading hotel brands, including Sofitel, Novotel and Mercure, are connecting to the Pegasus electronic distribution switch and using Pegasus Solutions for Internet hotel distribution around the world. More than 60 percent of Accor’s hotel properties are currently in Europe, with the majority in France and Germany.

Accor’s central reservations system (CRS) connects to Pegasus’ Electronic Distribution Switch, enabling the thousands of third-party Web sites in Pegasus’ online distribution network to have direct access to Accor hotel properties’  inventory and rates for real-time reservations without having to process through a global distribution system.

Pegasus’ online distribution database feeds more than 75,000 images and detailed property information to the thousands of Web sites in Pegasus’ online distribution network. Accor hotels’ content is available in English and French.

“As a global company, Accor looks forward to expanding its hotel offerings through worldwide distribution channels,” said Ghislain d’Auvigny, distribution director for Accor. He continued: “Through one connection, our hotels are available for real-time bookings on thousands of sites around the world. We no longer need to maintain multiple content databases, or manually provide allocations of rooms to multiple sites. Pegasus Solutions’ technology enables us to achieve much wider Internet distribution through one single seamless connection between our CRS and Pegasus’ online distribution network, ultimately growing our global presence.”

“Our agreement with Accor represents a significant milestone for Pegasus, enabling us to secure the European leader in hotels and to add an attractive spectrum of economy to luxury hotel brands to our customer base,” said Bob Boles, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Pegasus Solutions. “This achievement supports Pegasus’ dedication to growth in Europe, and demonstrates our role in helping hotels to cost-effectively maximize distribution channels.”
