Qantas said today it would increase its non-stop services between Melbourne and Los Angeles from seven to nine flights each week. Qantas Airlines Executive General Manager John Borghetti said the first of the new services would commence on 6 November, 2004 and the second on 7 February, 2005. "Under the new schedule, Qantas will operate 37 flights per week between Australia and the USA - 30 of which will be non-stop services," Mr Borghetti said.

"Qantas commenced services between Melbourne and Los Angeles (via Auckland) in October 1994, and has been offering non-stop services since October 1999. We are committed to continuing our substantial investment in this important market. The additional Los Angeles flights will boost our international operations at Melbourne Airport to 58 return services per week," Mr Borghetti said.

Qantas flies international services from Melbourne to Auckland, Christchurch, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, Narita, Singapore (with connections to Europe) and Wellington.

Australian Airlines operates services between Melbourne and Bali.

Mr Borghetti said the Qantas Group, Qantas, QantasLink and Jetstar also operated more than 950 domestic services to and from Tullamarine each week.
