Travel News Asia 20 April 2004

Raffles Knowledge, the training arm of Raffles International, is collaborating with EasyCall International Limited to offer a diploma course in hospitality management. The full-time twenty-four month professional course will be held at Tianjin University of Commerce Boustead College in Tianjin, People's Republic of China.

The collaboration between Raffles Knowledge and EasyCall International comes at a time when China's economy is expanding and there is an increased demand for quality hospitality services. The Diploma in Hospitality Management will cater to China's growing demand for hospitality and tourism professionals.

Under the terms of agreement, Raffles Knowledge will develop the Diploma in Hospitality Management curriculum; set assessments and examinations for all registered students; and organise and arrange for training attachments for the students at hotels in China, Singapore and other designated countries.

EasyCall International will provide the infrastructure of Tianjin University of Commerce Boustead College, where the course will be conducted.

Mr Wong Fong Fui, CEO, EasyCall International said, "This collaboration comes at an opportune time with growing demand for hospitality management professionals in China. Raffles Knowledge's valuable experience in hospitality and tourism education, together with our Boustead College's expertise in assimilating foreign programmes with the mainstream local tertiary education system of the China Education market, will make the tie-up a great success."

Mr Tommy Ng, Executive Director of Raffles Knowledge, said, "The Diploma in Hospitality Management programme is a best of breed, a combination of academic excellence and industry expertise. Learning is very experiential with a sharp focus on applied knowledge. We envisage that some of the graduates with this diploma  will want to apply to undergraduate programmes at leading universities around the world and they may transfer credits from the diploma programme for studies at these universities."

The first Diploma in Hospitality Management programme will commence at Tianjin University of Commerce Boustead College in September 2004.
