Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort and Spa in Dubai launches Layali Ramadan tent

Travel News Asia 18 October 2004

Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort and Spa in Dubai has extended its Ramadan facilities this year, by adding a dedicated new Ramadan tent – Layali - on the beachfront.

Layali (nights in Arabic) will be set up on a wooden deck on the beach, so guests can enjoy traditional Ramadan nights overlooking the warm waters of the Arabian Gulf. With four gazebos in every corner and a large central gazebo, Layali can seat more than 300 plus guests.

Guests can break their fast at Iftar in the hotel’s Brasserie, with either indoor seating, or a shaded terrace with live cooking shows. The buffet is Dhs90 per person.

After Iftar, guests can move outside to Layali, for hot and cold mezze, shisha and board games until the early hours, accompanied by live oud and tableh players performing tradtional Arabic folk favorites. Entrance to Layali is free.

For those looking for a more lavish meal, guests can move to Al Khaima, the property’s beach and garden-front restaurant.

Pam Wilby, general manager of Le Royal Meridien, said: “Following on the success of Al Khaima last year, we have created additional dedicated facilities – and we believe Layali will continue to make Le Royal Meridien the most stylish place to celebrate Ramadan!”

The hotel was again voted Le Méridien’s top performer in the world for guest satisfaction and number one in the group worldwide for food and beverage, as monitored by global consultants, J D Powers. Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort and Spa has now been in poll position for the last two years.
