Accor signs deal with China National Aviation

Travel News Asia 18 October 2004

Accor and China National Aviation Holding Travel Services Company have expanded their strategic co-operation with an exclusive agreement to sell Accor’s 23 hotels in China.

The agreement will begin in China National Aviation Holding Travel Services Company’s main ticketing office in Beijing, an important distribution hub for China’s rapidly growing domestic and outbound travel markets. Accor will provide training to counter staff and senior sales executives at the ticketing office, and supply Chinese language sales and marketing collateral to support Accor products in China.

Accor Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing – Asia Pacific, Ray Stone said the deal provides Accor with a unique platform for its expanding hotel network in mainland China, and could quickly increase to other offices around the country in the near future.

“We are delighted to expand our co-operation with China National Aviation with this important sales deal. It provides Accor with direct contact with the Chinese traveling public at the point of sales when buying decisions are made.

“Accor believes this is a significant step on what we hope will be a growing partnership in the years to come. Our intention is that we see mutual benefit for both companies as we develop our networks around China.”

Under the original Memorandum of Understanding signed in August 2003, Accor and China National Aviation would explore co-operation in sales and marketing activities, human resources and training, travel packaging, and loyalty programmes.

The two parties are also looking into hotel management possibilities and Accor is negotiating to provide accommodation for Air China crewmembers in key destinations worldwide.

China National Aviation Holding Travel Service Company has a network of over 20 hotels across the country, with a strong presence in the travel industry, property management, as well as passenger airlines and freight forwarding business.
