Thai Airways International gives details of Suvarnabhumi Airport

Thai Airways International held its annual Customer Airlines Conference Thursday, chaired by Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, THAI's President, under the theme "Partnership in Excellence" to familiarize THAI's customer airlines with new products and services offered by THAI's Business Units, namely Ground Customer Services, Cargo and Mail Commercial, Catering, Technical and Ground Support Equipment Services.

In addition, a briefing was given on progress of THAI's activities at the new Suvarnabhumi Airport. More than 300 participants attended the Conference, including 50 customer airlines, Star Alliance member airlines, THAI's Management, and government officials.

Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, THAI's President, said "We (THAI) decided to have Chiang Mai as the venue for the Conference in order to support the government's policy to develop Chiang Mai as the regional aviation hub, as well as to inform all the airlines operating to and from Thailand that THAI is ready to develop Suvarnabhumi Airport as a one-stop 'seamless service' for smooth travel transition". 

Details of THAI's services for its customers at Suvarnabhumi Airport, which will be operational in 2005, can be summarized as follows:

Ground Customer Services

First, Business and frequent Flyer customers will be served by dedicated experienced multi-language service staff with Touches of Thai. THAI will also provide customized services to handle irregularities and station supervision. A state-of-the-art business center and superior lounge including Spa facilities as well as door-to-door limousine service will be available for THAI's premium passengers.

Cargo and Mail Commercial

The International cargo Terminal, located at the Customs Free Zone is divided into Express Cargo Center, Customer Airlines, THAI and Star Alliance Area, and Perishable Cargo Center. The Domestic cargo terminal is located outside the customs free zone.

Ground Support Equipment Services

Ground Support Equipment Services offers a one-stop and flexible service, which is ISO certified and meets IATA service standards with strong security measures at all levels and ensures on-time flight departure. It meets all international environmental standards.

Catering Service

The Catering Services expected to produce a maximum of 85,000 meals per day and will include a separate Haral kitchen, Advanced Kitchen System, on-time catering delivery, and compliance with Good Agriculture Practice (GAP) to ensure the highest quality raw materials.

Aircraft Maintenance Services

The Aircraft Maintenance Services aims to provide excellent quality aircraft maintenance, including new line and light maintenance in strict compliance with internationally required standards and regulations to ensure total customer satisfaction with maintenance. The building can accommodate three large aircraft, the size of Airbus 380 simultaneously, while smaller aircraft can utilize space between these large aircraft for maintenance.
