Ted Takes Off

Ted, the new low-fare service from United Airlines, took to the skies for the first time today on its designated inaugural flight from Denver to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

In addition to more simplified, low fares, Ted offers pre-assigned seats and exclusive onboard entertainment, dubbed "Tedevision" and "Tedtunes." Tedevision features a variety of programming in keeping with Ted's relaxed personality, including hit television shows such as Friends, Scrubs, and My Wife and Kids; music videos from chart toppers Jason Mraz, Coldplay and Liz Phair; and segments from Jay Leno, Conan OBrien and the Carson Daly show. Tedtunes features 15 channels of music ranging from Latin, dance, club and easy listening to kids' tunes. Offering something for everyone, featured artists include Sarah McLachlan, Seal, Martina McBride and Outkast.

In addition to complimentary beverage service, Ted's favorite premium beverages -- Fosters Lager and margaritas -- and food items are available for purchase on board. Ted customers on flights over two and a half hours can enjoy food a-la-carte style from Bennigans On the Go, offering a range of items including Salmon Caesar Salad, the Country Cork Club sandwich and Atkins Advantage bars for the carb conscious.

"Its a proud day for all of us at United as Ted makes its inaugural flight," said Sean Donohue, Vice President of Ted, speaking at the launch celebration in Denver. "Customer reaction to Ted and its refreshingly different experience has been extremely positive. We look forward to welcoming Ted customers onboard both here in Denver and in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area with recently announced service from Dulles."

In conjunction with the inaugural flight, Ted also unveiled TedClub, part of Uniteds award-winning Mileage Plus program. TedClub members can earn and redeem miles in all the same ways Mileage Plus members do, across all of Uniteds offerings - United, United Express, Ted and Star Alliance.

Ted Rolls Out to Twelve Destinations

Todays flight marks the start of Teds commercial service which is expected to grow to 52 daily roundtrip flights by the end of March from Denver to Reno, Las Vegas, Phoenix, New Orleans, Tampa, Orlando, Ontario (California) and Ft. Lauderdale. Ted also will begin service between Las Vegas and Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco and San Francisco and Phoenix.

Beginning April 7, Ted service will begin from Washington-Dulles to Ft Lauderdale, Orlando, Tampa and Las Vegas.
