World Tourism Organization Secretary-General condemns attacks in Madrid

Following the tragic attacks in Madrid Thursday morning, World Tourism Organization Secretary-General Francesco Frangialli has expressed his condolences and sympathy in letters to the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ana Palacio, and to the Secretary-General of Tourism of Spain, Germn Porras Olalla.

"While abroad, I heard with immense consternation about the tragedy that has affected Madrid, its population and all of Spain.

I wish to express our most sincere condolences and full solidarity.

Taking part this morning at the inauguration of the "Salon Mondial du Tourisme et des Voyages" in Paris and tomorrow at the opening ceremony of the International Tourism Exchange in Berlin, I shall not miss the opportunity to condemn this latest terrorist attack committed in the public transport system.

The World Tourism Organization expresses its solidarity with Spain at this time." Mr Frangialli said.
