KEO International links with RNL International for The Pearl-Qatar Villa Design Contract

Travel News Asia 1 November 2004

The design contract for the first of 43 La Plage Villas to be built on The Pearl-Qatar, the island being reclaimed offshore Doha in the Arabian Gulf, has been awarded to global design and project management consultants KEO International in association with award-winning US architects RNL International.

Design work on the villas, which will be sold freehold to local, regional and international investors and will have superb views of Doha’s mainland beaches, is now underway.

“The association of these two companies produced a winning combination for the La Plage Villas which will hug a meandering coastline along the entire southern fringe of the island,” said Nick Bashkiroff, Development Director, The Pearl-Qatar.

Briefed to be individual dwellings of superb Mediterranean quality, the La Plage Villas are expected to attract discriminating investors looking for spectacular locations and discreet style.

“In all, six distinct villa styles will be produced,” explained Brian Grimwade of KEO International, which has offices in Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, Lebanon and the USA. “The design will capture the very essence of true island life.”

The award is the first Qatar project for RNL International, a holder of the American Institute of Architects Western Mountain Region’s coveted ‘Firm of The Year’ award.

“This is an exceptionally prestigious project and we are confident that with RNL as design consultants and KEO International as architects of record and design engineers, we can produce designs which will live up to the quality positioning of this exciting world-class project,” said David Klages, FAIA, Principal, RNL International.

The La Plage Villas will be available to investors in a range of four to six bedroomed properties.

“These luxury island getaways have been named to ensure they reflect the Riviera Arabia positioning of The Pearl-Qatar, which will be the most glamorous address in the Middle East,” added Bashkiroff.
