Abacus Space upgrade promises new Features, Streamlined Interface

Travel News Asia 1 November 2004

Beginning today, travel agents in Taiwan will be the first to enjoy the latest upgrades to Abacus Space, Abacus International's web-based travel booking solution.

Abacus Space is a pure Internet based solution, and enables travel agents to access key Abacus systems and functions directly from the Internet, eliminating the need to install specific connection and booking software on to separate computer terminals. In addition, travel agents have easy access to a wealth of real-time travel data and information.

The upgraded version of Abacus Space will feature several new innovations aimed at further streamlining booking processes, boosting productivity and delivering increased revenue for travel agencies. The most significant new innovation will be the inclusion of Abacus TravelNetwork - a fully integrated booking solution that automates, hosts and distributes travel and leisure content to Asia-Pacific travel agencies.

"The addition of TravelNetwork in Abacus Space will be a boom for travel agencies," said Mr. Kenneth Low, Vice-President, South Asia, Abacus International. "Not only will they be able to develop new revenue streams, which is important at a time of reduced airline sales commissions, but they will also be able to offer more choices to customers. Abacus Space will be an indispensable tool for travel agencies who want to become true one-stop travel shops," Mr Low said.

In developing the new Abacus Space, the company sought feedback from customers on how the popular solution could be improved.

"Our customers told us that because Abacus Space is their main booking tool, optimal workflow was just as important as new features. While we continue to add to the value of our solution by introducing exciting new options, we have also made it more streamlined and easier to use," said Mr Low.

"The upgrade boasts improved performance levels without compromising on content. Existing Abacus Space subscribers will find the new look familiar to booking screens they are used to while enjoying faster speeds and connectivity," said Mr Low.

Travel agents already subscribing to Abacus Space will enjoy the upgrade at no extra charge. The upgraded Abacus Space will next be launched in Hong Kong and in March 2005 for the remaining Abacus markets.
