Soneva Fushi Resort & Spa continues prestigious wine events in 2003

The award-winning Soneva Fushi Resort & Spa in the Maldives, continues its special wine tasting events, guaranteed to excite lovers of fine wine and good food, in an incomparable setting.

From August 19-22, Soneva Fushi will be featuring wines from the Dr Heger Estate in Germany’s Baden region. Wine lovers consider the wines from this estate to be some of the finest in the Germany. Over four days, guests will be able to taste some of Europe’s best vintages as well as meet the owner of the Estate, Joachim Heger.

Not only is Mr Heger the owner of the Estate, he is also the chief winemaker. Guests at Soneva Fushi will have the rare opportunity to talk with Mr Heger about every aspect of these wines: from the soil in which they’re grown to the bottling process.

The events will be hosted by Soneva Fushi’s Sommelier Dave Callow, and head chef Remon Alphenaar will compose a stunning meal pairing New Asian Cuisine with wines from the Dr Heger Estate. Wine tastings are US $65 per person. A selection of seven Dr Heger wines will be served throughout the meal at the resort’s fine dining restaurant ‘ Me Dhuniye ‘. The dinner tasting is priced at US$ 195 per person.

Iris Ellmann of London’s Wine Barn, renowned for promoting great German wineries has been the driving force in arranging this showcasing of Dr Heger wines.

This event follows the highly successful Saint Clair wine tastings in July. Soneva Fushi offered tastings from one of New Zealand’s top vineyards. Managing Director of Saint Clair Estate Wines, Neal Ibbotson was also on hand to discuss his wide knowledge of New Zealand wines.
