The Beaufort Singapore Renamed The Sentosa Resort & Spa

Search ASIA Travel Tips .com 4 March 2003

Beaufort Hotels, the luxury hotel group owned by Hong Kong-based developer HKR International has relaunched and renamed its Singapore property, previously known as the Beaufort Singapore as The Sentosa Resort & Spa.

The move, announced at a ceremony at the resort officiated by Singapore’s Minister for Trade and Industry, Brigadier General George Yeo, follows a substantial S$15m upgrading of the luxurious lowrise  resort property.

The upgrading includes the recent opening of the 6,000 sqm Spa Botanica, and The Cliff, a chic new oceanfront restaurant designed by Japanese design consultancy, Spin. It also  comes in the wake of a 10-year masterplan to rejuvenate Sentosa itself. Previously seen as a Singapore-style family theme park, Sentosa is undergoing repositioning and reinvestment which Singapore believes will transform it into a world-class luxury lifestyle destination.

Victor Cha, Managing director of HKR International said, “We are proud to support Singapore’s efforts to transform Sentosa into an internationally acclaimed lifestyle destination - and we  believe that the resort’s new identity will better enable us to do so.”

“Together, Spa Botanica and The Cliff add significantly to the allure of The Beaufort,” said B G George Yeo, Singapore’s Minister for Trade and Industry. “The Beaufort’s strategic re-launch as Singapore’s first luxury resort is most timely and its new name as “The Sentosa Resort and Spa – A Beaufort  Hotel” is most apt.”

“The renaming also supports our branding strategy for our hotels - which is to align each closely to the destination in which it is located, and to give each an independent identity. Thus we have The Sukhothai Bangkok, whose serenity and ambience draws on the ancient culture of Thailand, and  The Sentosa Resort & Spa in Singapore, which celebrates the natural environment and vibrant, outdoor lifestyle of Sentosa,” said Mr Cha.
