Jean-Jacques Kiefer appointed of Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel and Managing Director of Allson International Hotels & Resorts

Mr. Jean-Jacques Kiefer has been appointed Group General Manager of Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel, and the Managing Director of Allson International Hotels & Resorts.  In his capacity, Kiefer oversees 13 hotels under the Sunway and Allson brand with hotels in five Asian destinations.

As the Group General Manager of the flagship Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel, Kiefer focuses on strategic positioning of the five hotel sub-brands within the integrated hotel development namely the 441-room Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel, the 17-units of luxury accommodation called The Villas (opening February 2004), 12-units of townhouses with The Duplex (opening March 2004), the 549-room Pyramid Tower, an extension of the Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel, (opening July 2004) and 146 units of service suites with Resort Suites (opening October 2004). 

Kiefer's role as Managing Director of Allson International Hotels & Resorts brings international expertise in management, acquisition, development, brand positioning, and operational strategies. Armed with over 25 years of invaluable experience, the French national joined the management team of Allson International Hotels & Resorts as the General Manager of the 441-room Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel in 1999. In April 2003, he was appointed as Group General Manager of the 5-star development to oversee the expansion programme that is set to increases the Hotel's room inventory from 441 to 1168 guestrooms by end of 2004. Kiefer was also subsequently appointed as Managing Director of Allson International Hotels & Resorts.

Allson International Hotels & Resorts presently operates hotels in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam. It provides management and franchise agreements as well as hotel marketing affiliation services. Future development strategies include heightening brand presence in the Asia Pacific region. As a part of its portfolio, Allson International Hotels & Resorts is the management arm that operates all Sunway Hotels & Resorts properties.

An experienced international hotelier, Kiefer's career began in 1976 at the Hilton International Abu Dhabi in U.A.E. He held a number of managerial positions in the Food & Beverage department with Hilton International in Germany and France before he was appointed Area Food & Beverage Director Asia Pacific, based in Tokyo Hilton in 1987. Kiefer's regional role in Hilton was instrumental in shaping the brand's food & beverage positioning. He also held the position of General Manager of Osaka Hilton, Tokyo Bay Hilton, and was the General Manager of New Delhi Hilton and Hilton Divisional Director for India before he moved to Hilton International Bangkok in 1998 and subsequently to Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel in 1999.

Kiefer is active in a number of industry and community organizations. Fluent in French, English and German, he acquired several degrees and professional certificates from private institutes in France, Switzerland, Canada and Cornell University in the United States. Kiefer is based in the Allson International Hotels & Resorts' Corporate office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
