The Oriental Spa opens in Singapore

Mandarin Oriental has unveiled a new all encompassing spa experience with its opening of The Oriental Spa in Singapore this September.

Located on level 5 of The Oriental, Singapore, the 620-square-metre spa comprises four luxurious oriental-inspired treatment rooms, a Couples' Suite, a Shiatsu room, a private Relaxation Lounge, a mind and body yoga studio and a high-performance exercise studio.

The Philosophy

The innovative and restorative treatments at The Oriental Spa merge both ancient and modern techniques and philosophies from around the world, using 100% pure essential oils and herbs. The Oriental Spa aspires to provide each guest with a personalized sensory journey to wellness, focusing on the six senses. With its exotic oriental interiors, coupled with the authentic spa rituals from skilled therapists, The Oriental Spa presents its guests with a complete luxury spa experience.

The Design Concept

In keeping with its sense of place and reinforcing the exotic roots of Mandarin Oriental yet the individuality of the Group's award-winning properties worldwide, The Oriental Spa is contemporary yet is influenced by its surrounding Asian cultures. Tranquility and harmony are the inspiration behind the design of the spa; features include walnut timber flooring, Asian motif panels, complemented with traditional Chinese furniture. 

The Oriental Spa Experience

Each guest embarks on their journey of the senses upon entering The Oriental Spa. Attentive reception staff greet guests, offering cool, fragrant towels and a cup of herbal tea before a relaxing shower. A Relaxation Lounge has been specially designed for guests to unwind and relax before and after treatments, where they can individually listen to calming music. Each treatment begins with a soothing foot ritual while the spa therapist assesses the guest's individual needs.

The Couple's Suite

Couples or friends who wish to share their spa experience may choose to have their treatments in the spacious 62 square metre couples' suite. Equipped with two beautiful Agape baths and a steam room, guests can begin their spa experience with a fresh flower bath and an invigorating steam bath. A separate relaxation area offers a comforting opium bed, provides a perfect haven for guests to float back to reality at their own leisurely pace after the treatment ends.

The Yoga Studio

For yoga enthusiasts, The Oriental Spa is equipped with a spacious yoga studio. Qualified yoga masters from India are present to impart the benefits of yoga to both body and mind, providing a personal assessment of each guest before the beginning of the yoga session. The Oriental Spa offers an extensive yoga menu with more than 20 classes conducted weekly.

The Spa Cuisine

For a healthy finishing touch to the spa treatment, savour a fine selection of carefully created, nutritionally balanced dishes at Pronto. Using the freshest seasonal ingredients, Spa Cuisine menus are low in calories, fat and cholesterol. Pronto is located next to The Oriental Spa, guests can look forward to a leisurely meal whilst enjoying the serene setting of the restaurant located next to a beautifully landscaped swimming pool, with its panoramic view of Marina Bay.

"The Oriental Journey" Package

In celebration of the opening of The Oriental Spa, The Oriental, Singapore is offering a sensuous spa retreat entitled "The Oriental Journey". The package, valid from 1 September 2003 to 31 December 2003, includes pampering spa treatments and accommodation:

Return limousine transfer from Changi Airport (for overseas guests) or from home (for local guests).

Arrival amenities in the Club Room include a herbal infusion, deluxe fruit and a complimentary spa amenity.

Hotel guests are entitled to Club benefits which include Executive Champagne Breakfast, Afternoon Tea, Evening Cocktail with Hors d'oeuvres, unlimited garment pressing and more.

One specially prepared Spa Cuisine lunch at Wasabi Bistro or Pronto during the stay.

One three-hour pampering spa treatment which includes:

- Welcome Foot Ritual
- Salt and Oil Body Scrub
- Aromatherapy Massage
- Rebalancing Facial
- Steam and Bath

"The Oriental Journey" package is priced at Sin $938++ (for an individual) or Sin $1,288++ (for sharing couple) for two nights accommodation.

The Oriental Spa is open from 10.00am to 10.00pm, seven days a week.
