Travel News Asia 28 November 2003

Cathay Pacific Loyalty Programmes has announced that South African Airways (SAA) will join Asia Miles, the leading travel reward programme in Asia. At the same time, Cathay Pacific Airways (CX) will join SAA Voyager.

From 1 December 2003, Asia Miles members will be able to earn and redeem Asia Miles when flying on SAA routes including those operated by Feeder Airlines SA Airlink and SA Express. Similarly, Voyager members will be able to earn and redeem Voyager Miles when flying on all CX routes.

Ron Mathison, General Manager Cathay Pacific Loyalty Programmes said: "We are delighted to have South African Airways on board as our 16th airline partner. With this new airline partner, our members will have more opportunities to earn and redeem Asia Miles on new flight destinations served by SAA, especially in Africa."

Andre Viljoen, SAA President & CEO said, "Cathay Pacific has been a code share partner for 4 years. We are extremely pleased to have a world class airline in the Far East as a Voyager partner. SAA Voyager has been lacking a solid partnership in this part of the world. Our members have asked us on numerous occasions to form this partnership. Now we can bring them this exciting news."

There are 16 airline partners which include Aer Lingus, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, China Eastern Airlines, Dragonair, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Japan Asia Airways, LanChile, Qantas Airways, South African Airways, Swiss International Air Lines and Vietnam Airlines.
