InterContinental opens two new Hotels in India

InterContinental Hotels Group have officially opened two new-build hotels in India - the InterContinental The Grand Mumbai & InterContinental The Grand Resort Goa. The hotels are owned by The Grand Group, which also owns InterContinental The Grand New Delhi and InterContinental The Grand Palace Srinagar in India.

InterContinental Hotels Group's Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Mr A. Patrick Imbardelli said, "The addition of InterContinental The Grand Mumbai and InterContinental The Grand Resort Goa in India means that international travellers can now enjoy luxurious accommodation and superb guest services that the InterContinental brand is known for in these two key cities of Mumbai and Goa. These two hotels have differentiated offerings giving guests the option of staying in the city to enjoy the delights of Mumbai or retreating into the rejuvenating resort experience in Goa. These two InterContinental hotels will bring the total number of our hotels in India to 15, strengthening our distribution network in India and giving us a leading edge in this key market."

The guest experience at both hotels will be enhanced with unique InterContinental products and services that reflect a true understanding of the needs of international travellers such as In An Instant- one point of service contact; Global Connections to keep in touch with guests' businesses and homes with technological connectivity; Around The Clock such as 24-hour access to room service, valet service, the gym/health club and business centre; and Little Things That Make A Difference, which includes the Jetlag Recovery Kit, Instant Money, a local currency pack, and the Insider Concierge to help guests discover the city conveniently and easily.

InterContinental The Grand Mumbai, at Sahar Airport Road, is minutes away from new business and retail developments north of Mumbai and the international airport. It boasts a magnificent atrium lobby and travellers have a choice of 31 luxurious suites, 48 Club InterContinental rooms and 290 rooms. All rooms are decorated with a blend of contemporary furnishings with touches of Indian culture. In-room facilities and services include hi-speed internet access, interactive televisions and safe deposit boxes.

There are six dining and entertainment options at InterContinental The Grand Mumbai, namely, 24/7 for all-day dining, Baluchi, an Indian speciality restaurant, Trendz for contemporary western cuisine, WOKS for Chinese cuisine, Beluga the lounge bar and Bollywood Bar, a snazzy nightclub.

The hotel's banquet facilities span 12,000 square feet, incorporating a column-less banquet hall, The Majestic, which can accommodate more than 1200 persons, two smaller function rooms and The Gardens, for outdoor events for up to 2000 persons. Other guest services include Rejuve - the Spa & Health Club, an outdoor swimming pool, a 24-hour business centre, an exclusive business club, a salon and a shopping arcade. The hotel is also situated next to a commercial complex, which offers a Movie Preview Theatre and retail outlets.

The 255-room InterContinental The Grand Resort Goa is located at Raj Baga, Canacona, one of the most exquisite beaches in Goa. Straddling two rivers and facing the Arabian Sea, the resort offers a kilometre-long beachfront and extensive leisure services, including an international standard 9-hole golf course and various water sports activities.

This 'Portuguese' style double storey resort comprises 14 'casas', which house 236 spacious rooms, each with a foyer area and attached veranda or balcony, overlooking the resort's elegantly landscaped gardens and the Arabian Sea. The exclusive 'Presidential Suites Casa' offers 3-two bedroom presidential suites, 2 luxury suites and 12 executive suites and two independent cottages.

Dining and entertainment options include 'Canacona', a 24-hour diner; 'Veri Feni', the hotel's main bar; 'Sea B Q' for barbeque favourites; 'Kokum' the speciality restaurant; poolside swim-up bar 'Gazebo'; a 'Beach Shack' and 'Dice,' a gaming club. The resort also has a ballroom, two function rooms, three boardrooms and outdoor gardens that can host events for 15 to 600 persons.

There are also extensive recreational facilities, such as a 9-Hole, 34-par international standard golf course, luxury yacht, swimming pool, water sports facilities, tennis courts, squash courts, jogging track and an indoor recreation centre. Other amenities include a salon, 24-hour business centre, travel desk, gymnasium and spa offering beauty and health services, as well as retail outlets.
