Dubai Summer Surprises delegation begins roadshows to GCC

Travel News Asia 23 May 2003

A delegation of Dubai Summer Surprises led by Mr. Ibrahim Saleh, Chief Operating Officer of DSS, reached Riyadh today, one of the stops for road shows in GCC countries to promote the key attractions of DSS 2003.

The delegation also includes Major Jassem Abdul Ghafour, Assistant Director of Executive Office, Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department and also includes representatives of hotels and hotel apartments that are offering special promotional packages for the summer.

The delegation will be holding a press conference and a travel workshop in Riyadh on Saturday, followed by similar programmes at Jeddah and Dammam in Saudi Arabia, to be shortly followed by cities in Doha, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait.

Mr. Ibrahim Saleh said: "These annual roadshows to our key target markets is an attempt to reach the Saudi families directly and familiarise them with major promotions and new attractions. In six years, Dubai Summer Surprises has become one of the most likeable holiday destinations for the residents of the region.

"We expect a bigger turnout from the GCC this year, a 10% increase because of the regional and international situation."

The travel workshop, organised along with the media conference will promote Dubai as one of the best family holiday destinations in the summer, and familiarise attendees with the new hotel promotion and the Dubai Shopping Malls Group promotion which are the key elements of the event.

Saleh added, "The GCC market constitutes perhaps the biggest percentage of DSS visitors, since the event has been able to offer an event spread that is tailor made for their liking, a retail promotional offer that is unbeatable and an economical hotel package that is good value for money - key ingredients to a great family holiday destination.

"This year, the new additional themes Colour Surprises, Knowledge Surprises, Cartoon Surprises, Sweets Surprises, and Adventure Surprises and Modhesh World will be newest attractions of DSS.

The companies which are a part of the delegation include Golden Sands Hotel Apartment, White Sands Tours & Travel, Metropolitan Hotels International, Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Tower, Grand Hyatt Dubai, Jebel Ali International Hotels, Jumeirah International, One & Only Royal Mirage, Net Group of Companies, Alpha Tours, Travco, Thrifty Car Rental, Ritz- Carlton, Destinations Of The World, Safir Deira Hotel Dubai, JW Marriott Hotel, Ramee  Apartments, Fairmont Hotel and Novotel Hotel.
