Langham Hotels International to take over management of The Langham Hilton of London

Travel News Asia 20 August 2003

Great Eagle Holdings Limited has announced that the Management Agreement made with Hilton Group plc in relation to The Langham Hilton of London will expire on 23 May 2004.

Langham Hotels International Limited (formerly known as Great Eagle Hotels International Limited), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Great Eagle, will take over the management of the Hotel and operate it under the name of the Langham Hotel, London, in recognition of the excellence of the Langham name in the luxury, 5-star hotel segment as enhanced by Hilton's contribution.

Langham Hotels International Limited have a team of internationally experienced personnel who have been responsible for the management of Great Eagle's hotels in Hong Kong, namely, Great Eagle Hotel since its acquisition by Great Eagle in 1994 and Eaton Hotel since its completion by Great Eagle in 1990. They are currently preparing for the opening of Langham Place Hotel in Mongkok in 2004 and will manage the same thereafter. Great Eagle Hotel will shortly be renamed the Langham Hotel, Hong Kong.

The Langham was reopened in 1991 as the present luxury hotel after it had been substantially reconstructed and refurbished by the Hilton Group. Great Eagle entered into the Management Agreement with Hilton in August 1996 when Great Eagle acquired the Hotel from the Hilton Group. In 2000, Great Eagle completed an extension to the Hotel with 47 deluxe rooms and suites and an exclusive health club and spa.

The Langham is a 5-star hotel with 429 rooms located in the heart of London's West End and within walking distance of Regents Park, the theatre district and the famous retail streets of Regent, Bond, Oxford and Piccadilly.
