Advantage Plus targets 10,000 members in Thailand by end 2003

Travel News Asia 18 July 2003

Accor's Advantage Plus dining and accommodation membership card is expected to exceed 10,000 members in Thailand by the end of 2003, continuing its impressive growth since the launch in 1998.

Advantage Plus members enjoy benefits at 17 Accor hotels in Thailand and in its network around Asia Pacific.

Advantage Plus programme manager - Thailand, Ed Kahn, said the Thai market has taken to the Advantage Plus card because it is perceived as a good value supported by excellent service.

"Many hotels around the country sell hotel specific cards but no one can offer Accor's country or regional network. Our 17 hotels in Thailand, both in key cities like Bangkok and resort destinations, give us an edge.

"The Thai market believes it is a good package and versatile enough that when the economy is soft they can use it to save on dining and entertainment costs. Our renewal rate of over 60 per cent in 2003, up from 44 per cent last year, shows that customers in Thailand are very happy with Advantage Plus."

For an annual fee of only 4,250 baht (US$102) in Thailand, members receive a voucher for one free night, seven 50 per cent off accommodation vouchers, 30 per cent off standard accommodation and 'member dines free' benefits (50 per cent off when dining with guest), so the card quickly pays for itself, Mr Kahn added.

Other benefits include 15 per cent off when dining alone, late checkout until 3pm, complimentary room upgrade when available and 15 per cent off beverages when not dining.

Currently there are over 120,000 Advantage Plus members in the Asia Pacific region.
