Marriott opens Global Sales Office in Abu Dhabi

Travel News Asia 17 January 2003

Marriott International, one of the world's leading hotel chains, has opened its Global Sales Office in Abu Dhabi. The office will represent all of Marriott's 12 leading hotel brands, and will cater to both individual and corporate customers.

Customers will be able to use the office to make instant reservations at any one of Marriott's more than 2,600 hotels around the world in addition to receiving brochures and getting further information on what the company has to offer customers. In addition to representatives from Marriott Global Sales, the office will also be manned by a representative from the popular JW Marriott Hotel in Dubai, who will be providing sales and reservations support.

"As the capital of the UAE, Abu Dhabi is at the centre of government and business life and is the headquarters of the Emirates Oil companies and the base for international embassies. We have established a presence here to help Marriott International build greater brand awareness and demonstrate our total commitment to this region," said Samir Daqqaq, Vice President Global Sales Organisation, Middle East, Africa and the Subcontinent.

The Marriott Global Sales Office is located at the intersection between the Airport Road and the Corniche, opposite the Chamber of Commerce Tower. The location is in the heart of the capital's business district.

The office will also give Marriott International an opportunity to promote their world-class range of hotel brands and hospitality to a much larger audience and build on their existing corporate and business customer base.

"Marriott has a long and close association in the UAE, and opening our Global Sales Office in Abu Dhabi was the logical next step for us as we continue to enhance the range of services we offer travellers from the Emirates looking for quality hotel accommodation around the world," added Mr Daqqaq.

The Abu Dhabi Global Sales Office conducted an open house on January 13 and 14 to welcome partners and customers and to inform them about the services that are provided.

Marriott International's extensive properties in 66 countries can offer guests anything from a luxury stay in a JW Marriott in Bangkok, Mumbai or Hong Kong to a short business trip in the competitively priced Courtyard by Marriott hotels, a long business stay in Marriott Executive Apartments, Marriott's home from home, or a leisure break in one of their many resorts worldwide.
