Mr. P.R.S. Oberoi, Chairman & CEO, EIH Limited
has been honoured with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 6th International Hotel
Investment Forum (IHIF), held recently in Berlin, Germany. Mr. Oberoi's son,
Vikram Oberoi, received the award on his behalf.
The annual award is given to those who have demonstrated leadership and
is voted upon by an Advisory Board comprising of leaders of the hospitality
industry, investment banks, travel writers and hospitality consulting companies.
Popularly known as "Biki", Mr. Oberoi is the son of Rai Bahadur M.S.
Oberoi, the founder of the Oberoi Group. In addition to providing leadership for the
management of hotels in seven countries, Mr. Oberoi has been instrumental
in pioneering the development of new Oberoi Hotels & Resorts.
The Hotel Intercontinental Berlin, was the location for this prestigious
industry gathering which was attended by delegates from over forty
countries. The IHIF provides invaluable opportunity for leading hotel investors and CEO's of hotel companies to meet and explore matters of
mutual interest.
Concerning the selection of Mr. Oberoi, co-host Jonathan Worsley of
Insignia Hotels and Advisor to the World Travel and Tourism Council, stated,
" Mr. Oberoi is very deserving of this award as he has shown exceptional leadership and vision. We are delighted to present the 2003
International Hotel Investment Forum Lifetime Achievement Award to P.R.S
Oberoi."
On receiving the IHIF Lifetime Achievement Award, Mr. Oberoi said, "It is
indeed an honour to be recognised by the members of the international
hospitality industry. It is my firm belief that people are the most valuable
asset of any organisation and I would like to dedicate this award to the staff
of Oberoi Hotels and Resorts worldwide and to the memory of my late father
Rai Bahadur M.S. Oberoi." The Oberoi Group was founded in 1934 and apart
from luxury hotels, is engaged in flight catering, airport restaurants, project
management, car rentals and executive air charters.
