JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa launches 'Survivor Phuket'

Travel News Asia 13 March 2003

'Survivor Phuket' is JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa's latest edition to its menu of popular teambuilding programs for corporate clients.

'Survivor Phuket' in addition to a teambuilding exercise, enables delegates to enjoy some sightseeing around the beautiful islands off the coast of Phuket.

After being briefed and receiving equipment rations, teams depart by speedboat, navigating the course together to guide the captain, answering questions, finding information and collecting items. Team members need to swim, snorkel and explore the beaches and islands in order to gather the information.

While each team heads in a different direction, they also meet at points  around the course, where small competitions are held. An English speaking guide is on each boat for safety and to assist with any queries and translation.

On collecting all the information, everyone heads back to the beach for the second phase - finding the 'treasure'. On the 'treasure island' there is a 60-90 minute specific teambuilding component which involves problem solving  such as raft making, a spiders web course with ropes, trust falls and other activities designed to combine action learning with teamwork, leadership, decision making, planning, allocation of human resources and a commitment to communication as the foundation for an effective performance.

Unlike the popular television programme, where participants have to sleep outdoors and literally fend for themselves, participants in 'Survivor Phuket' at the JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa enjoy some of the finest and most luxurious accommodation Phuket has to offer.
