Travel News Asia 11 September 2003

Qantas and American Airlines have opened new First and Business Class lounges at Los Angeles Airport. The opening of the new lounges follows the opening of new international Qantas Club lounges in Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Bangkok and Honolulu.

Qantas Executive General Manager Sales and Marketing, John Borghetti, said the USD$22 million development at Los Angeles included contemporary designs, furniture and art that reflected the Southern Californian lifestyle.

"Passengers in both lounges can choose to relax in a variety of zones, including theatre-style rooms, music areas or one of the dedicated quiet areas.

"There is a business centre, common to both lounges, with fully equipped work-stations and conference rooms. Children are also catered for with a special "Kids Kamp" room equipped with televisions and computers with fun educational software," Mr Borghetti said.

The First Class lounge has seating for 90 customers and also features:

lounge and cafe-style seating;
self-service bar and buffet;
16 entertainment units featuring 55 music channels;
dedicated service facilities; and
dedicated bathroom and shower amenities.

The Business Class lounge accommodates 340 customers and features:

lounge and bar seating;
choice of beverages and light snacks;
12 entertainment units featuring 55 music channels;
dedicated service facilities; and
dedicated bathroom and shower amenities.

Both lounges are located in Terminal 4 and eligible passengers can access them when departing from Terminal 4 on Qantas or American Airline services.
