Qatar Airways touches down in Cebu to extend services

Travel News Asia 11 December 2003

Qatar Airways further extended its services to the Philippines Wednesday when its inaugural flight QR638 touched down in the Philippines city of Cebu at 16:00 hrs.

"We are pleased that we can extend our services to the Philippines with this new thrice-weekly service to Cebu," said Mr. Mohamed Saleh Fakhri, General Manager Commercial.

"Cebu has become Qatar Airways' 48th destination and represents Qatar Airways' ongoing commitment to increase services to the Philippines.

"The new Cebu service follows our decision earlier this year to operate non-stop services to Manila, and to use our new state-of-the-art A330-200s between Manila and Doha," Mr. Fakhri pointed out.

"For the large expatriate Filipino community that lives in the Gulf, we can now offer a direct flight home to the southern Philippines," added Mr. Fakhri.

Flight QR638 to Cebu leaves Doha on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 22:30 hrs, arriving in Singapore Changi Airport at 11:00 hrs the following morning. It will then continue on to Cebu at 12:15 hrs, arriving at Cebu Airport at 16:00 hrs.

Return flights leave Cebu Airport on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays on QR639 at 02:15 hrs, arriving in Singapore at 05:55 hrs, continuing on at 07:15 hrs and arriving back at Doha International Airport at 10:15 hrs local time.

The aircraft used for this route will be the Airbus A300-600.
